Like a lot of hockey parents, I never expected we'd end up with a goalie.

In fact, my daughter didn't even want to try playing goal.

She had developed a bit of a reputation for screening her own goalie during games, so I decided to surprise her by signing her up for a goalie camp. If nothing else, I figured she'd gain a new appreciation for what goalies deal with every game.

Secretly, I thought she'd try it once, decide it wasn't for her, and happily go back to being a player.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

She absolutely loved it.

Discovering the Biggest Challenge

As she learned the position, one thing became obvious.

Sliding across the crease wasn't easy.

Like every new goalie, she worked hard on her butterfly slides, recoveries, and crease movement, but getting consistent glide took practice. Watching her struggle wasn't frustrating—it was inspiring. It made us wonder if there was a better way to help developing goalies build confidence while they learned the position.

That's where the idea for Pillow Sauce began.

We experimented with different formulas, tested different consistencies, and kept refining every batch until we found the balance we were looking for.

While my daughter inspired the product, my nephew became our primary product tester.

As a competitive AA goalie, he put every version through real practices and games, giving honest feedback on how each batch performed.

If something wasn't right, he told us.

If something worked better, he noticed.

His feedback played a huge role in shaping the final formula.

He even helped come up with the name.
