The Story Behind No Chap: Built for Alberta Winters

Some products are inspired by hockey.

Others are inspired by simply surviving an Alberta winter.

No Chap is a little bit of both.

A Move That Changed Everything

When our family moved from British Columbia to Alberta, we expected colder winters.

What we weren't prepared for was just how dry everything would be.

Within weeks, we were dealing with dry, cracked lips almost every day.

Then came something we never expected—dry nostrils.

If you've lived through an Alberta winter, you probably know exactly what we're talking about.

The combination of cold temperatures, low humidity, indoor heating, and endless hours at the rink created the perfect recipe for uncomfortable, irritated skin.

We found ourselves constantly reaching for lip balm.

The problem was...none of them were quite right.

Searching for Something Better

Some lip balms felt great—for about ten minutes.

Others were overly waxy.

Some were too glossy.

Others seemed to disappear almost as soon as they were applied, leaving us reaching for them over and over again.

We wanted something different.

A balm that actually protected lips from Alberta's dry climate instead of simply masking the problem.

One that felt smooth, lasted longer, and could stand up to long days outside, in the arena, or on the road.

Building No Chap

Like every Bravo Tango product, No Chap started with countless test batches.

We experimented with different waxes, oils, butters, and flavour combinations until we found the balance we were looking for.

It needed to glide on smoothly.

It needed to stay put.

It needed to moisturize without feeling greasy or sticky.

And it needed to taste good enough that both kids and adults would actually want to use it.

Every adjustment made it a little better.

Every batch brought us closer to the formula we were proud to put our name on.

Made for Hockey Life

No Chap isn't just for winter.

It's for early morning practices.

Long tournament weekends.

Cold outdoor games.

Road trips.

Mountain adventures.

And yes...those painfully dry Alberta mornings when your lips seem chapped before you've even had your first coffee.

Many of our customers have even found another unexpected use for it.

A small amount around dry nostrils can help provide comfort during Alberta's driest months—a trick many prairie families know all too well.

Built Locally

Like every Bravo Tango product, No Chap is made locally in Alberta in small batches.

We believe that small-batch production leads to better quality, more consistency, and products we can continually improve based on real customer feedback.

Because we're hockey people first, every product is created to fit naturally into life at the rink.

Throw it in your hockey bag.

Keep one in the truck.

Leave one in your jacket pocket.

You'll probably end up wanting one everywhere.

More Than Lip Balm

No Chap represents exactly why Bravo Tango exists.

We don't create products because they're trendy.

We create products because we genuinely need them.

Our move from British Columbia introduced us to Alberta's famously dry climate.

Instead of accepting constantly chapped lips as part of winter, we decided to build the product we wished we'd had from day one.

Today, No Chap is one of the products we're proudest of—not because it's complicated, but because it solves an everyday problem exceptionally well.

Sometimes the best ideas aren't revolutionary.

Sometimes they're simply the result of living, learning, and refusing to settle for "good enough."

That's No Chap.

Built for Alberta.

Perfect for hockey.

Ready for wherever winter takes you.
